  • TRANSPORTATION VOLUNTEER

The Parish is in need of volunteers who are willing to provide transportation to parishioners who would like to attend Mass but are unable to drive.  In addition, we need volunteers who are willing to provide occasional rides to parishioners to Bible Study, Adoration, doctor’s appointments, or to bring meals during temporary illness.  This was once a lively ministry that the parish provided on a regular basis but due to lack of volunteers disbanded.  We would like to revive this ministry once again, but we need volunteers who are willing and able to coordinate and carry out this most rewarding ministry.  If interested, please contact Gabby Elliott, Director of Communications and Office Administration (828) 327-2341 ext. 302 or by email at relliott@staloysiushickory.org.

  • LANDSCAPING

The St Aloysius Landscaping Team (SALT) is looking for persons to help with the weekly planting, weeding and watering chores. Weather permitting, we meet on Wednesday mornings and work at least 3 hours.  Bring your own gloves and hand tools if you have them; shovels, rakes, hoses, etc., are stored for our use @ St. Aloysius.   Please contact Mary Elliott if you are interested.  (828) 459-2974, or gm_elliott@charter.net

  • RECEPTIONISTS

Seeking receptionists to help fill in time slots during Parish Office hours of 9 am – 5:00 pm. Orientation for newly enrolled and current receptionists will be held later on this year. If interested, please contact Gabby Elliott at relliott@staloysiushickory.org.

  • HABITAT PARTNERS PROGRAM

The city of Hickory has the oldest average homes of all the identified metropolitan areas in North Carolina. It is for this very reason that Habitat for Humanity has initiated The Habitat Partners Program. If you are part of a church or civic group that does home repairs or maintenance for people in need and you have your own crews and tools but lack the resources to complete your project, Habitat of Catawba Valley can help! St. Aloysius is proud to support this program and is presently seeking volunteers to help further this cause. The Habitat Partners Program can provide funding and/or materials for your project up to a value of $1500.  For more information, contact Repair Supervisor, Richard Greathouse, at 828-612-7485.

  • VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR NEW MINISTRY

Highways and Hedges, a Catawba County ministry for the needy needs some volunteers to help deliver donated furniture to needy families. They also need church groups to provide meals for their small congregation that meets every 1st and 3rd Monday. Our group might prepare a meal once a year or once a season, whatever our group grows to be capable of. If you’re interested in being a part of either of these opportunities to help those in need, please email Dave Gerhardt at gerhardtdave1@gmail.com.

  • ALTAR SERVERS NEEDED

St. Aloysius is in need of altar servers at all our masses.  Any boy or girl 4th grade and has received their First Communion is welcomed and encouraged to become Altar Servers.  Questions, please call Anthony Braun 828-437-2822 or 828-448-7198.
